  • CITA Lunch Talk: spontaneous informal talk by visitors or locals. CITA lounge.
  • Hydro or Gas-Dynamics Discussion: weekly discussions on hydrodynamics-related astro-ph papers. Room MP1308.
  • astro-ph: 45 mins discussion of new & interesting astro-ph papers. CITA lounge.
  • OrderOfMagnitude: weekly session working on an order-of-magnitude problem, organized by graduate students
  • Journal Club: weekly discussions of astro literature, organized by graduate students.
  • Education Discussion Group: bi-weekly discussion related to astronomical education. Astro lounge.
  • Stellar Discussion: bi-weekly talks on stellar astrophysics. Astro lounge.
  • Star/Planet Group: weekly group meeting of people working on star formation/planets. CITA Lounge or Astro Lounge.

Social Events

  • Astro Coffee: daily morning coffee to start off the working day. Astro Lounge.
  • astro tea: weekly tea/cookie party to contribute to the departmental cookie fund. Astro Lounge.
  • Colloquium Refreshments: delicious cookies and fresh fruits for after the colloquium, bug the speaker! Astro Lounge.
  • CITA dessert: weekly Friday dessert, everyone welcome (with or without a stomach for even more food). CITA Lounge.
  • Colloquium Dinner: gradute students take out the colloquium speaker for a weekly, department-subsidized dinner.

Outreach & Other Events

  • Public Lecture: first Thursday every month, free tour of rooftop telescopes, public talk, inflatable planetarium show.
